Born in Brooklyn, now residing in Barbados, Haleek Maul is a 15 year-old whose sense of aesthetic style, taste and talent is well beyond his years. As someone who has spent some time in Barbados, I’ve always been curious as to whether or not the island would ever produce a rapper or singer who could embody the griminess and rough edges of a local culture and locale that is understandably and aptly revered for it’s natural, exotic beauty. Well, perhaps this is what I was waiting for.
